One last quip-- Inversion feels most potent around scales. On its own it becomes terribly abstract. I dont see much interest in inversion anywhere now, and thats the why. It was a lever out of the scale, but then once youre out it fades away. Do we not find that most stuff we like now flickers in and out of scalar (tonal) associations, but usually without much consciousness of or concern for the diatonic scales stark inversional relationships? Maybe only a few TT holdouts still care about inversions? Yet arrays can hide all that stuff, sweep it under a rug.... Tell me, whither inversion? Show me your inversions, please. My pop song settings from the 90s were 100% proto-TT Brahmsian inversions.
