One last tip before I take a two week vacation: Most beginners - TopicsExpress

One last tip before I take a two week vacation: Most beginners choose a stance that is too wide when doing the conventional deadlift. Their reasoning is usually that standing in something resembling a narrow squat position, gives them better balance. This is not the case. You can train in that position if you want to accentuate the hip abductors and external rotators somewhat, but if you want to lift as much weight as possible with the conventional set-up, you are better off standing at the width of your hip joint. Why? Because that way you avoid sheer forces working between the hip joint and the foot. If you dont believe me, just try it and feel the difference.
