One more independence day and nation is celebrating it. But our celebrations are overshadowed by the naval disaster which took place near Mumbai killing 18 brave marines. Like every year, this year also our politicians will deliver speeches regarding the development of our country and give lots of promises which will never materialize. If we compare with other nations which were at par with India at the time of independence, we can find that they have leapfrogged miles in terms of development. We have not achieved even one tenth of development which could have achieved in the past 66 years. Then what development these politicians are talking about? Just have a glance of some of the shocking facts. Our population is 1.24 billion. No serious actions to curtail the population growth. This population growth creates lack of sanitation, more hunger, more homeless poor, more malnutrition and so on. World’s largest illiterate mass lives in India (310 million). More than 70% peoples’ income is less than Rs120/- per day. 270 million people live less than Rs28/- per day. More than 60% people still defecate in the open. All worrying facts. Overnight we can’t change all these. These all required proper planning and vision. In India followers of the political parties are like believers of religions. They blindly follow what their leaders preach. No self decision making. By this criminal and thug voted into power again and again. I hope on the next independence day we will have a better government, I mean a functioning government. For that we have to think above caste, religion, region, language etc. while electing our representatives. I feel it is better to vote for the genuine individuals irrespective of their parties.
