One of Sylvies closest friends at school is a boy named Joseph who is in a different class than hers. Ive never met him. She says they play basketball and eat lunch together every day. She tells me that he is in the special needs class and wears a helmet and braces on his legs. Some days she walks him back to his class. She told me that at first it was hard for him to hold her hand but when she reaches out both hands its easier for him to hold her hand. Shes formed a friendship with his aide at school, and they all have great fun at recess together. Yesterday, she came out of school with a tear in her eye and a heavy heart because she said that, Josephs favorite aid will be having her last day at school tomorrow. She tells me, I think she would like Starbucks. So she asked Ryan to pick up a gift card for the teacher on his way home. This morning she made her a picture and put the gift card in an envelope and on the picture she wrote, Thank you for being so kind to Joseph. She told me that, Joseph has two other teachers but this teacher he cared for the most. I love that she recognizes even the subtle beauty in the world and wants to add to it... My heart just bursts.
