One of my best friends and most influential people in high school growing up was an exchange student from Serbia, formerly known as Yugoslavia, his name is Dubravko. Or, Doobie as we called him. He was (is!) . I lost touch with him, its been over 30 years.because of all the tumultuous change in Serbia, I wondered and worried over the years if he was even alive.I found him on Facebook yesterday and we are catching up. He is the guy who took my current profile photo. Smart and funny and intelligent and wild.A great photographer.and a great observer of American culture and society.in those days before Internet, he was one of my windows of perspective to a larger world outside of the U.S. We had such a riot in school.
