One of my best summer memories is going wading/fishing in Pitman Creek with my Dad below the pumphouse lake. We would take out old worn out shoes to wear doing this because the creek bottom could have sharp stones or other objects that we couldnt see in the water. We used top water baits and casted. I can still smell the mossy smell of the water. I also enjoyed watching water striders and other insects skim across. the water and the calls of various species of frogs. We rarely caught any fish or even got a bite on the line but who cared? We enjoyed each others company and the refreshing cooling of the water on our skin on a hot day. Dad would be amazed to see beavers and great blue herons which are now very common on local creeks. Recalling those days makes me smile. I suppose I will always miss him.
