One of my first introductions to Mr. John Coltranes art was Giant Steps. This song opened my mind to a whole new possibility in music. It exposed me to a frontier which I could not have imagined. Mr. Coltrane took me into his matrix of augmented scales, triads and bebop to develop in me an appetite for transcribing music out of chaos. I didnt want to be like him...because there could never be another him, I would be content to just one day reside in the same area code of his musical macrocosm...where conventional rules are broken and risk becomes the new sheet music...I aspire.
