One of my friends quote: Jesus was simply stating that those who follow him will be persecuted and for that they will be rewarded for their loyalty and obedience, even in death. God rewards us for being righteous even when at times it can be difficult. Its not easy being made fun of or laughed at. But knowing that Jesus went through the sand thing if not worse. It definately makes going through it alot easier. God always rewards the righteous for their diligence and perseverance in walking through a fire storm of criticism and ridicule. He knows exactly what we are going through and thats why He says we are blessed. Thats why He rewards us.
