One of my second year classes listened to this story and wrote their own versions of Marys response. The story is below and attached are their unedited letters. I dont know if its just my sense of humor but I died with laughter at some of these. The story: One day Jim fell in love. He liked Mary very much. But he was a very shy boy and he couldnt confess his love to her. He couldnt say I like you to her. He wanted to express his love but he didnt know how to do it. Then he thought, What should I do? How can I tell her my feelings? Yes! Ill write a letter! He wrote a letter to her but he couldnt write it well. He tried thousands of times until he finally sent one. He dreamed they were in love with each other. He was very excited. Every day he waited for her answer but not letter was in his mailbox. Today too. Was Jim disappointed? Yes, of course. He lost heart. Oh no! She doesnt like me, does she? Why doesnt she give me an answer? he cried. But a few days later, he got her letter at last. He leaped for joy. He jumped up and down excitedly. He opened the letter at once.
