One of my students has just unearthed David Drurys 1992 BBC adaptation of The Secret Agent on Youtube. Based on Joseph Conrads 1907 novel of the same title, its all about anarchists, informers, political policing and cooked-up bomb plots. Needless to say, Im delighted to be able to watch this all over again - it aired on very the day that my teacher and friend, Willie McLaughlin, handed me my first copy of the novel (which I still have) and Ive been reading it ever since. Peter Capaldi, of Dr Who fame, is brilliant as the sinister ambassador, Mr Vladimir. If you enjoy this and havent yet read the novel, please give it a try - its the finest work of political fiction ever written: youtube/watch?v=6P7mzWQszlk
