One of our dear brother summed up the mood of the nation when he cried in despair: Sometimes, you just think, can things get any worse? And then they do. This is not the governments finest hour. A resolution to this mess must be found expeditiously. Our brave nurses are simply too important, especially at a time like this. God help Sierra Leone! The truth is not our enemy. ...Who is looking out for our people? Who speaks for our people? Who is providing an alternative to this governments failed agenda? Who is holding this government accountable for its miserable record of neglect? Where there is a lack of effective moral leadership, discord and rancour will fill the vacuum. When the centre can not hold, things will fall apart. It is the lack of moral leadership that has created the frustration, anarchy, insults and infighting that is dividing our party. So if our leaders are not prepared to do their jobs then it is time for them to go!! Their job is to lead. Their job is to hold the government accountable. Their job is to provide a consistent message for the SLPP. Their job is to provide alternative credible solutions to the government’s failed agenda. A very simple task, if you can not do it, please go!! We have a failure of leadership. Those who have been entrusted with leadership in our party are failing to faithfully exercise discharge their duties. So they are leaving us with nowhere to go but to fight, shout and scream because where the centre can not hold, things fall apart. My aim has never been to offend, but to fight for what I believe in with all my heart. Let us not be naïve, our country is in a mess and there has been too much dishonesty, betrayal and rank opportunism for far too long. We are supposed to live in a free society, where criticism is not an act of war or unpatriotic act. And yet when we raise our voices in despair, mourning our dead and praying for our folks, we are told not to inject politics into a national disaster. From the very moment #Ebola transitioned from a problem in Guinea, to a national calamity in our homeland, it became POLITICAL. Legitimate questions are being asked about the governments failed and disastrous control & containment strategy and our party failings to ask this government all the questions we are all thinking of? Wae Sylvia Blyden tok, wuna say na in na di Ebola, wae London Jet tok wuna say nor bring politics into a national disaster. Hmmm. Some of us who care deeply about the plight of our people get so frustrated by the lack of moral leadership, that inevitably we use our own initiatives to force the issue and get folks to hear us. We make mistakes, are sometimes too rash and hot-headed but I am only human. I wish I could have confidence in our elected party officials and just sit back and let things play out. But I am not stupid; it is hard to trust a lot of people in our corrupt and morally bankrupt government. Yes government. Andrew Keili said: The government was corrupt, untrustworthy and taking us in the wrong direction. But now is it our patriotic duty to work with an institution we have no confidence in? Is Mr. Bio no more the young and motivated leader with all the competencies you spoke about in your video/ What has changed? Is it you or Mr. Bio? As far as the majority are concern Mr. Bio is consistent while you have changed drastically...SHM. So Mr Keili, why did you not put aside your insecurity, self-interests and work with Maada Bio for the sake of national unity in the face of the Ebola terror? Is patriotism only of significance when the corrupt government of President Koroma comes knocking on your door? You once told us that this APC government was corrupt, untrustworthy and leading our nation in the wrong direction. This government continues to ignore our people and rule through propaganda and fuel tribal resentments. Has the governments callous and insensitive response to the Ebola outbreak not confirmed our worsts fears? Who could possibly trust this government, let alone work with them? On some positions, cowardice asks the question, is it expedient? And then expedience comes along and asks the question, is it politic? Vanity asks the question, is it popular? Conscience asks the question, is it right? There comes a time when one must take the position that is neither safe nor politic nor popular, but he must do it because conscience tells him it is right.
