One of the better emails I got today: Scott: Loved your article today. Coincidentally, after golf yesterday, our group decided to head for the Gator’s in Clermont for lunch. This particular Gator’s Dockside does the 1 percent ACA charge. Now, a group of twenty old white golfers in the South is not the ideal demographic for supporting the Affordable Healthcare Act. Being an Obama guy, I am the group out-lier. One of the guys had read the morning paper and when the bills came he started complaining about the ACA charge on his check. I asked to see his check and then said to him “You own half of [a small town in Central Florida]. You’re paying an extra 12 cents so the wait staff can have healthcare and you’re complaining?” After a pause, he agreed it sounded pretty whiny.
