One of the greatest misconceptions and lies of our time is that - TopicsExpress

One of the greatest misconceptions and lies of our time is that social media is an accurate and literal representation of the complexity that is a persons intrinsic character and overall quality of life, rather than the simple Truth, that they are showing you ONLY what they want you to see and believe about them. Itself, often times, nothing more than pure fantasy. It is easy to get lost in this incredibly distorted and out right false virtual reality of Photoshop and half Truths. Because society is dominated by competition, envy, jealousy, insecurity and the like, social media also serves largely to further fuel these poisons that are DANGEROUSLY toxic to the mind. As a result, based on my personal observations, social media is a MAJOR distraction that steals from focus and, in turn, ambition. Simply put, there can be no true progress or the realization of true potential without focus and if you are nor progressing in life toward actualizing your potential, what are you doing? If you are not challenging yourself to be better than you were yesterday, what are you doing? If you are not following your heart, what are you doing? These are very serious questions that we should all ask ourselves honestly and without prejudice. These problems do not apply to everyone but I would say, without the slightest doubt that, it does apply to most. So be honest with yourself, if you know social media is doing more harm than good in your life, if it has become like a drug almost, I recommend taking a break from it or monitoring your usage in a conscious and strategic manner. Social media is good for keeping in touch with others and can be used for motivation and educational purposes, amongst other things, but be honest with yourself and question your motives for using it. Stay true to yourself, life is not meant to be lived online or in the pursuit of external approval.
