One of the hardest things to do as a teacher is to admit that you - TopicsExpress

One of the hardest things to do as a teacher is to admit that you fell short in your service to a student or group of students. It is much easier to point fingers at the student, at families, at systems, at leaders, at colleagues..., I dont want to play that game any more. I sincerely believe that we cannot improve our practice if we are not willing to first admit, our practice falls short in this area or that. This morning I freely admit that I am not as strong as a teacher as I would like to be. There are some kids I have had great success with but there are some I have downright failed. The struggle to ensure that every student in my class and in my programs has a quality experience is a daily struggle, and I am committed to working towards 100% getting what they need from me, from my class, and from my programs. To do that I must embrace the tension that comes from negative feedback, for without the tension I know I cannot grow.
