One of the hidden agendas of the Affordable Care Act is the unionization of the healthcare industry. But the more monopolistic an industry is, the easier it is for unions to operate with minimal constraints - any demands they make are granted via higher prices to captive consumers. We can see where this is headed through the bad example of Californias state and local governments, who are financially broken and operationally crippled by unions, because the government has the power to forcibly collect taxes.
