One of the latest reviews for The War At Home: One Familys Fight Against PTSD I chose a 4 star b/c this book is very informative and educating for ones trying to understand the PTSD disease, but it also gives much entertainment. Living with and understanding PTSD and the strings that come along with it is extremely hard and life altering for the spouse and/or the person living with the Veteran, so this book WILL give a BIG insight on those dealing with this disease and it gives many, many ideas on how to cope with the disease, also this book provides many resources for us. When youre dealing and living with PTSD, you end up devoting ALL of your time to the person you are caring for. It is extremely stressful and at MANY points during the caregiving, you will feel like you are just losing all hope and you feel like it is a never ending process and that the veteran will NEVER be the same again, so that makes you just lose all faith. I was at that point, on the verge of just giving up, not just on the disease, but giving up on my WHOLE family! I was about to walk away, until one day I thought to myself This is my LIFE, he is my LIFE, my daughter is my LIFE, theres got to be another solution! So I started doing some research online and found this book n ordered it. The only reason I didnt give it a five star is because of the size of the book, it could have been typed at a smaller font and then made into a smaller book, making it easier to carry around but other than that MINOR discrepancy, I FINALLY found HOPE again through this book! I want to thank everyone involved with getting this book out there!!! THANK YOU! I have brought this book to EVERY VA Clinic that my husband and I have been to and/or are going to go to in the future! And everyone has said they are going to order the book!!! Again THANK YOU! I just wish EVERY book about PTSD was as explanatory and hopeful as this one! :)
