One of the most absurd wars in history is that which was caused by a dog in the year 1925. -_- This incident is popularly known as The War of the Stray dog, which is also referred to as the Incident at Petrich. A conflict between Greece and Bulgaria happened after a a Bulgarian sentry shot a Greek soldier who ran after his dog as it wandered across the Bulgarian border. The Greek army immediately responded to the action that was made by the Bulgarian guard and invaded the town of Petrich sitting near the border.The war ended after Bulgaria appealed to the League of Nations. They then intervened and ordered Greece to withdraw their forces, but the lives of more than 50 people were taken during the war. Bizarre incident, I would say. But it really did catch my attention while I was reading about some historical events that took place in the early 1900s.
