One of the most frustrating experiences of my 9 months as Mayor is the fact that 2 1/2 weeks after the death of Carl Evan Yancey, we have not been able to identify the driver of the vehicle that struck him. Yesterday, I let the frustration show through in a post about Shaws Supermarkets decision to not contribute money for a reward to be offered for information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the driver who left the scene of Carls accident. I think it is important for me to share that Shaws has shown support for Carls family in other ways. Shaws Supermarkets donated the food for Carls bereavement, and have also pledged a donation to the Goddard School where Carl worked. The city is very grateful for these gestures by Shaws. If anyone has any information about the gray/silver mini-van or driver that struck Carl on Belmont St., please contact the Brockton PD detectives at (508) 897-5234.
