One of the most frustrating things about being on BBC Question Time is watching it afterwards on i-Player and thinking Damn! I wish Id said XYZ! That feeling washed over me when I heard the guy in the audience say that the government doesnt take house prices into consideration when measuring inflation. I should have jumped on that point to blow Tory minister Sajid Javids figures out of the water. Heres the proof that, for all the Tories crowing this week about wages rising above the inflation rate, once bonuses are excluded, the figures show a drop in real terms.
