One of the most interesting aspects of the Jersey Shore is the lure of architectural beauty found in the many custom built homes bordering its ocean avenues. While PVC and Azek products have cemented their place for outdoor use by most contractors, there is no disputing the age old charm of real wood for its historical contribution to the architectural elements of these hauntingly beautiful houses sharing our sand filled beaches. Here in my shop we are doing our part to ensure that the lasting beauty of wood solidifies its role in that distinctive pleasure. Please enjoy the attached photos of a another charming porch project we recently completed to that end. We began with rough sawn Mahogany Sapele timbers, direct from the sawmill and transpired them into the raw beauty of these extraordinary milled railings, lathe turned balusters and hand built posts you see displayed here. Though disguised by a long lasting and enduring white paint, you can still feel the pulsing life of this historical wood as you run your hand down the softly machined surfaces of these grandiose custom railings. A feeling you’ll never get with the cold and impersonal feel of plastic impersonations of PVC type products. I have to say - my job is one of the most fulfilling occupations one could ever wish for, and I’m so proud of the talents handed down to me through my Dad who taught me just about everything there is to know about woodworking. Through the memory of his guiding hands and unlimited knowledge I continue to make contributions as my shop manifests itself with real wood products destined to beautify both interior and exterior structural elements of our Jersey Shore residences.
