One of the most life changing encounters Ive had, was one night in - TopicsExpress

One of the most life changing encounters Ive had, was one night in the Red light district of Monrovia, Liberia. Its not a Vegas type place with fancy lights and music. It was going down a bumpy road into a pitch black area of town not knowing if well get back out alive. Darkness, Shadows, Blood stains, Agonizing noises and the stench of death. We literally went to hell. I was shaken to the core. The girls I met there left scars of memory on my heart. To meet a 10 year old looking girl that doesnt know her age or name...they call her Princess but shes never been treated like one. Shes never been a kid, never had a birthday. Shes doesnt get to play, sleep through the night or feel safe. Instead, her life consists of being abused by men. For hours into the night she pulls on my arms, grabs my hand, wont let go of me and begs Help me. please. Get me out of here. There must be a way. Take me with you. Anywhere. away from here. i can hide under your bed, you dont even need to get me food. ill do anything. i need to escape from here...please save me!!!...Im speechless. I tremble. My soul aches...we climb back into our truck and dozens of girls like her surround us crying, climbing on and shaking the car pleading for us not to leave. Big men come and yank them away..i duck down and cover my ears. Im too struck to cry. We drive away. As the red rear lights distance the girls faces disappear. Through the blackness we drive. Eventually their cries fade...we did make it out. But they never will unless someone helps them. Because of encounters like these, I want to take steps towards making the world of girls like Princess a better place. To go into the dark places, shine The Light, reach out, rescue and Love. At the moment, Im doing an 8 month training and working locally. This March, I also have the opportunity to go and work with organizations and girls in Thailand & Cambodia. Today, is the deadline for one of the payments for this trip and i still have quite a chunk missing.
