One of the page posted this ( surely copied from some blog but I guess this must be the real side of higuain saga) *MUST READ * The transfer of Gonzalo Higuain to Arsenal is certainly dragging on a lot longer than it should have done, but it has not hit the wall, contrary to the widely repeated report in the Spanish newspaper Marca. The problem for Arsenal is that we have to dance to Real Madrid’s tune a little bit until the deal is completed. I know that a lot of fans are worried and think that the report means that Higuain might not be coming after all, but that is not the case. The facts are that Higuain wants to leave and Madrid have agreed to sell him. All this garbage in Marca is just chest thumping from Madrid and their president. The paper is often used as a mouthpiece by Madrid when they don’t want to go as far as an official announcement, and this time they are using it to keep their fans happy and make them look like tough negotiators. The report says that Madrid have not accepted an offer for Higuain and they will not take anything less than the true value, but we already know, from Higuain’s father, that they have given permission for him to iron out the details with Arsenal. Why would they do that if they wanted to keep him, like the paper claims? They wouldn’t, that’s why. Not enough proof for you? OK, why has no other Spanish paper repeated the story, as they do with any other? Because they know it is just a PR exercise by Florentino Perez, but the English media have just taken the story and ran with it. I suppose you could look at it this way; either Higuain’s dad is lying, for some bizarre and unfathomable reason, or you could say that the newspaper that is in the pocket of Real Madrid is lying. No prizes for guessing which one it is. Madrid were not happy when Higuain announced his departure this summer, because it weakened their position, when they are trying to look strong. Real Madrid have completed another signing today, the young midfielder Illaremendi, and Ronaldo has apparently committed his future to the club, so hopefully that will be enough for them to stop messing us about. The president has been desperately trying to win back some of the reputation that was lost during the turbulent reign of Jose Mourinho, and Arsenal and Higuain are the unfortunate recipients of most of their media blustering, but the deal is firmly on, I guarantee it. >
