One of the reasons I love doing wedding photography so much is the love between family members. I treasure capturing the special moments between the couple and their loved ones, the parents and their children, long time friends and the long standing jokes and ongoing love and laughter. I walk through weddings knowing that some of these moments may be the last moments caught on camera forever for some people. Its something that I take as an honour and responsibility. Tonight I witnessed the joyful celebration of two families coming together, four parents showing their love and reminiscing on old times. It was lovely and truly heart warming. I came home to wander through Facebook and relax with my feet up when I discovered a heartbreaking post from one of my brides this spring. Her father passed suddenly and unexpectedly today. I witnessed the love he had for his family and his daughter and it so saddened me and my heart just went out to his wife, daughter and family. I am so thankful I paid special attention to photographing him and his daughter. Photography is so special. Its truly the gift that keeps giving. He will always be captured having a joyful time with his family and that makes me feel grateful.
