"This morning, the Mount Zion autonomous community of migrants in Barcelona has been evicted by the Spanish police. 300 people in danger of social exclusion and financial insecurity have been thrown on the streets. Please take note of these act of inhumane injustice by the Spanish state who not only is unable to provide a decent living for its own citizens and visitors, but moreover actively prevents people from autonomously making a living outside of the system. Last month, ROAR contributor Carlos Delclós wrote: "An eviction of this magnitude would not only be a massive violation of human rights and the suppression of a tremendously commendable exercise of worker autonomy and self-management; it would also constitute the political fabrication of a social time-bomb. By blocking the institutional path towards a fair solution, an entire community of people would be forced to rely on the noxious dynamics of the underground economy."
