One of the things that Ive heard a lot about while working with the Coalition for Net Neutrality with Everylibrary California is that ISPs have been putting legislation in place that grants them rights to all of a towns broadband infrastructure. But heres the thing, your tax dollars go to pay them to put that infrastructure in place through subsidies and tax write-offs, then after you pay for it they claim that they own it, then they charge you for access to the thing you already paid for, then they make it illegal for anyone else to install infrastructure in order to diminish competition in the market instead of innovating. The corporations trying to regulate the market to their own benefit, instead of investing and innovating, is why net neutrality became a thing in the first place.
