One of the very best side-effects of writing is that I dont exist while Im doing it. I mean, Im here, Im breathing and thinking (and generally working out on my stepper) but it is a completely self-less act. Bethany-the-person doesnt matter a fig to me. Bethany the neurotic can go hang with the laundry. The poem matters. The story. Working the puzzle, forming the image, wrangling plot matters. Its the best drug on earth. One day I will figure out how to permanently overdose.
