One reason I resisted the idea of hearing aids for so long was because I thought they wouldnt make a big difference since I suffered from tinnitus -- a persistent ringing or hissing sound. I was wrong. Im not sure why, but the hearing aids have eliminated virtually all the difficulty I had with tinnitus, as well as making it possible for me to hear again. Unless you suffer sudden hearing loss due to an explosion or something like that, you have difficulty noticing how severe a problem it is when the loss is gradual and you slowly compensate for it in various ways. These little things are ife changing. And, of course, theres not a health insurance policy in the US that covers so much as a dime of the costs. *sigh*
