One reason for my absence with respects to the #28DaysofLestat is because I am right now, hard at work, with a novel that is on the threshold of reaching 100 pages, entitled Death Seer. I hope to have the whole 250 page manuscript done sometime over the next two weeks or so. Music plays a fundamental role in my story. My music setlist is composed of songs that greatly enhance the flow of my writing. This song is what led me back to my story. Here are two preview paragraphs from #DeathSeer: I dimmed the lights, and laid on the bed, letting Enya’s May it Be chill whatever was left of my soul. Killers liked sobering classical sonatas and pieces; these fragmentary bursts of precious sound was as soothing to my soul as killing. I was getting ready, for the kill, letting the mental picture of my most desired kill fill my mind. Enya would no less be disgusted to know her Lord of the Rings song, singing of classical heroism and the journey of the band of rugged warriors set to vanquish evil, was really being used in reality primarily for more subversive things. If murderers had their own variation of ITunes, May it Be would be the top-selling dirge of a killer, soulfully reenacting the pure pleasure, without any vestiges of remorse, the high theatrical emotions and orgiastic pleasure of the kill, just swelling, like Enya’s beautiful vibrato, as she sang those lovely Elvish rhymes during the bridge of the song.
