One recurring argument I keep hearing today is that we ought to ignore race, gender, class and see everything and everyone equally, despite the fact that society has created an unequal playing field for everyone. Not only will that not work, but ignoring these unique aspects of a human in order to eradicate an oppressive system is blaming the victim of that oppression for being born a certain way in a society that is intolerant of their identity. Telling them to ignore something they take a lot of pride in is not the answer, the answer is to not raise your children to be bigoted assholes. STOP TELLING PEOPLE TO IGNORE A HUGE ASPECT OF WHAT MAKES THEM WHO THEY ARE.
