One such word which has become a national way of life is the word lime. When a Trinidadian or Tobagonian tells you, Lets go for a lime!, he is not by any stretch of imagination inviting you to go pick that particularly sour citrus fruit which makes such delicious drinks as Lime Squash and Rum Punch. What he is talking about, is going somewhere to do nothing or something in particular. He is inviting you to go Liming. Liming is the Trinidad & Tobago art of hanging out. But is more than just hanging out. It is a social event that has different connotations depending on time and space, and different levels of participation. - Excerpt from Twice Upon a Time entitled Liming by Paul Keens-Douglas (1989)
