One thing I find incredibly annoying are indians how get involved in the propal movement just because the language feels good and they are not smart enough to actually examine the conflict and look deeper than the surface. It is even worse when its a native person I respect for the things they do in the Native community because often they make it clear they do not know enough to be speaking on the subject. I studied the conflict in depth for years before speaking out in public, I studied Islam in careful detail and I studied indigenous rights and where they come from. only once I was well versed in the facts did I get involved publically. so why is it we have so many people who end up perpetuating the stereotype of the dumb indian by speaking out about something they have absolutely no knowledge of? I just watched a video where a woman compared Palestine to My people, and then she spouted off about how the ottomans stole the land from the palestinians in the 1940s and sold it to the Israelis. wtf? seriously? and worse yet the woman is a respected member of my community who is well educated in her own field. worse yet I used to respect her a great deal. now I just shake my head and wonder wtf is wrong with people.
