One thing I wanted to do as President (pipe dreams of youth) was mass declassification up to very recent history and audit (performance and ethical) all the intelligence agencies and defense so as to figure out what has been going on the past 200-years and make it all public so as to prevent corruption and apologize for any and all failures in my peoples history (like trying to cover up assassinations, etc.). My nerdy reason was to be able to once and for all tell the nerd community yes or no on the Roswell cover-up, demonstrate precisely what happened there, along with all of the other research done. In other words, if aliens exist, let it be the front page news article. If they dont, lets have a vetting to prove it. If the government was building spy planes and they crashed and used the story of aliens as a cover-up for like nuclear plane testing or something, then lets stop all the nonsense. We have the ability to make our own stories at will, but it just goes to show that the vast shortage of oversight by Congress is precisely why the intelligence community and the military has garnered such stories for so long. As Americans, all of Congress deserves a full disclosure of all operations on what is going on. If someone gives it directly to our enemies for their exclusive benefit (as opposed to the US people via media), then we have means already laid out in the Constitution for such problems. Its called treason. Look it up. While we do not hang, draw and quarter folks, cut off their head (quarter the body) and stick the head and body parts on the four quadrants of the DC City gates as warning to any who would betray the People and so endanger their freedoms, it does give plenty of incentive. I never liked the black budget. If Im paying for something, while I dont necessarily need to know all of the details (although, that would be nice), Congress does as they are the elected body voting for it, and I, as a citizen voting on Congress require as many details is possible to best make my decision when electing members of Congress.
