One thing above all I have noticed walking the streets of Dubai - TopicsExpress

One thing above all I have noticed walking the streets of Dubai this week is that if you are winding your way through streetside café tables full of people like you would in Chicago or Royal Oak, etc. and if Im walking as a single male and I see a couple coming toward me, I step aside and wait for them to pass. The Euro couples dressed in cargo shorts and sundresses have all given me the head nod, as have the local guys wearing a keffiyeh on their head and a long white Dishdash robe while their girl is wearing a Dearborn-familiar Hijab covering their hair. Respect seems to be the grease in the gear around here. I am one, you are two, AND youre walking with your favorite girl. I will stand down for 12 seconds so you both can pass -- Or a guy with a stroller, older person in tow, etc. I havent seen too many women in a full Burka, but the ones I have been about to pass, I made sure I was on the side of the guy coming toward me just out of respect. It takes The Joker quote from 1989 Batman You dont rub another mans rhubarb to a new level! :) Lots of passing room for everyone. And passing room seems to be well respected, as it should be everywhere. Even Great Lakes Crossing!
