One week on after moving house, here is what Ive learned: 1. Take clothes out of wardrobe before moving it 2. A VW van back doors do not open by pulling on the VW badge on the back. 3. A VW vans petrol cap can be found by opening passenger door. 4. Do not use plastic beer crates as a makeshift tail lift. 5. Dont kid yourself that the Mrs is going to let you run surround sound speaker wires along the new living room walls. 6. Get a decent electric screwdriver 7. Cream carpets are at extend risk when kids are being sick. 8. Doing poos in downstairs toilets should be outlawed. 9. Door chimes with its a small world tune should also be outlawed. 10. The staff at the local tip are too picky with regards what rubbish goes where. 11. The new local pub is closer than I thought bringing my eldest son into play for babysitting duties. 12. An acceptance that there is stuff you had at the old house that you will never find again. 13. There are some great apps for working out how much Sun you get on your back garden. 14. For the technology challenged folk, you can solve point 13 by checking Sky dish directions. 15. The Topham family cannot survive more than 48 hours without wifi. 16. Never take dishwashers and fridges for granted. 17. Woodlaithes facebook group is useful. 18. Get a proper snow shovel. 19. Bin day is Friday and finally and most importantly, basic customer service from UK companies is an extremely rare occurrence. Other than that, all went to plan and we are very happy and settled.
