One would love to see America go in big into Iraq and blow ISIS all to hell and then get out, but war is never that easy. Remember Dick Cheney famously said Iraq would be over in a couple of weeks and we would be greeted as liberators. So much for the hawks optimistic assessments. I respect Obamas limited efforts to help the Yazidis and to protect Erbil from ISIS, but I am not stupid enough to think we can control ISIS with just a few or a lot of Strategic Air Strikes. We need to do what we can to protect our interests in Erbil and to free the Yazidis, but those calling for broader strikes are the sames bastards that got us involved in Iraq in the first place. Iraq is not better after Saddam HUssein. It really is not, and the CIA agrees. This is a complicated situation, and many of ISISs enemies are also Americas enemies. We have to be cautious in how we move forward. If we defeat ISIS in Syria, we bolster Assad, the man who has murdered more than 200,000 of his citizens. Why are conservatives calling for us to enter Syria to fight ISIS?
