One year ago today, I started my training at SPIN. I was so torn about whether or not I should go, because I just wanted to be at the hospital with you. Of course, being you, you pushed me to go. Dont let this opportunity pass, you said. Ill be here when you get done. Then when I called you on my lunch break, you said something strange. You said, I just wanted to let you know that I dont want you to come visit me in the hospital today. I responded, What?! Why wouldnt I come see you?? Of course Im coming. Stop it. But you were so excited through all your pain. You said, No! Im going home! Theyre letting me go home today! I still wish I would have known what was going on inside so that I could have done something to help you. I wish you were here every day. If love could have saved you, you never would have died. And if tears could bring you back, Ive cried you lifetime of returns. I love you, girlfriend.
