Online rage as beggar caught taking pictures using #iPhone6 If you live in Beijing, you probably wouldn’t be surprised by the frequent occurrence of beggars on the city’s subway. Despite their personal grievances, commuters of the city are becoming increasingly reluctant to spare these beggars any change. What’s worse, a few speculative beggars have made quite a fortune out of it. In these pictures posted by a Weibo user on late Monday, a beggar was taking a picture of his fellows counting the money, with a much-coveted #iPhone6 ! The incident became an immediate stir on China’s social media, with people lashing out their dissatisfaction at subway staff for allowing beggars to board the subway. Others said they are ‘bitterly disappointed’, because while they themselves couldnt afford an expensive iPhone 6, they still give their money to those who they believe to be in need of help. One commentary posted on Xinhua even noted that ‘people feel saddened because the beggars exploited the public’s compassion’. With a starting price of 5,288 yuan ($864) , the iPhone 6 is still beyond the reach of many workers in China.
