Only a few days left to sign up for an audition. Heres a description of the characters were casting for: Serafina Dupris: (mezzo-soprano) Shes a Vaudeville star who has left the stage behind for mysterious reasons. Shes sweet, charming, and a little manipulative. She rescues the troupe from freak show drudgery to create their own vaudeville act and, no matter what she says, shes a hopeless romantic. Orin Ravel: (tenor/baritone) The Barker/Ringmaster of the freak show with an overly inflated ego. He hates vaudeville and will stop at nothing to get his freaks back. He is brash, charismatic, and has a strong sense of patter. Josh the Monkey Boy: (tenor) Hes a monkey boy (aka he has a tail) and is terminally insecure about it. Hes also charming, handsome, and definitely the leading man. He has a desperate need for acceptance, but has all but doomed himself to a life as an unloved freak. Tim the Bearded Lady: (baritone) Hes soft spoken, a little clueless, but ultimately the wisest person in the room. He may be wearing a dress but that doesnt make him any less of a man! He loves his wife, loves his job, and loves this show. Rose, the Siamese Twin: (soprano/alto) She is half of a set of siamese twins. Loveable, innocent, and dumb as a brick. Rose is a true sweet heart who sees the good in everyone and everything. She gets a ton of male attention and has no idea why, teehee! She also has no idea that her twin sister Bud is unhappy with the life they lead. Bud, the Siamese Twin: (mezzo-soprano) The other half of the twins. Bud is the cynical twin, looking at the world with a chip on her shoulder. She is always overlooked and seems almost invisible compared to Rose. Her attitude comes from a place on insecurity and she secretly longs to be a vaudeville soloist. Esmeralda, the Gypsy: (alto) Mystical and a little odd, Esmeralda is prone to making random prognostications. She may seem more than a little crazy, but her odd predictions have the bad habit of being right more often than not. Larry: (tenor?) Supposedly Ravel’s “heavy”, Larry is smitten with Rose and longs to be a stand-up comic. He tries to act all big man on campus but he can get really excitable.
