Ooni at 84: Northern govs extol monarch’s leadership qualities -Tribune Newspapers THE Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) has felicitated with the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Olubuse II who attains the age of 84 years today, describing the monarch as a bridge-builder who has been playing a leading role in fostering unity amongst the diverse groups that make up the country. In a tribute to the Ooni, Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu said Oba Sijuwade’s 34 years on the throne has brought tremendous progress and modernization to the people of his domain. “It is worthy of note that since 1980 when his imperial majesty mounted the throne of his forefathers, the monarch has been playing a leading role in building bridges among the diverse tendencies that make-up the country,” the forum said in a statement signed by Governor Aliyu’s Chief Press Secretary, Danladi Ndayebo. The forum emphasized that the 34 years of Oba Sijuwade’s kingship has brought positive development and modernization to his domain. “It is gratifying to see how the Ooni has been building bridges across ethnic, religious and socio- cultural divides, helping to bring together Nigerians, irrespective of their differences,” the forum said. The Forum prayed God to grant the Ooni excellent health, courage and many more years of service to Nigeria and humanity.
