Open Letter to the NY Tango Community Dear all, It has been three years. Just three years, but we have accomplished a lot during those three short years. We went from a humble practica with 20 people to an average of 120 people every Sunday. In the footsteps of that effort we opened a Tango School on Wednesdays that brings new dancers to the tango scene. That success helped us also to claim new spaces: Santo Tango, an incredible gala at the Museum of the City of New York, and more yet to come in 2015. We have helped promote shows that came to the city, Union Tangueraamong them, and we keep on promoting local instructors through our pre-milonga lessons and Astoria Tango School. We accomplished the unthinkable: having a full orchestra on our stage for our 1st Anniversary, conducted by the incredibly talented Octavio Brunetti and we took it even further: we created our own orchestra, that now plays every month and is here to stay and infect more souls with the Tango Virus. Astoria Tango Club is, as its name suggests, a social club. At ATC we prioritize human interaction. We dreamt of a place that was made by the people for the people. A popular place, reminiscent of those places that flourished in Argentina during the Tango Golden Age. A place that promotes tango for everybody who wishes to come. A place that waits for you with warmth and friendly faces. All of this we accomplished in these three years. How did we do it? Very simple... We didnt... It was YOU who did it. All of you, that come through our doors every Sunday, that shared and encouraged our dreams, that suggested NEW dreams. There is a little bit of each of you at the core of Astoria Tango Club. This coming Sunday we will celebrate what we have been celebrating each Sunday for the past 3 years, and we will do so TOGETHER, as we always do! This Sunday, we will celebrate FRIENDSHIP! Thank you for being our friends, thank you for letting us be your friends. For many more years and projects to come. Sincerely, Astoria Tango Club astoriatangoclub/
