Open letter to To Garissa MP, @HonAdenDuale, via Jaffrul Bashir I watched you say all the right things (i mean most of them) the other day. I heard you express the desire to fight for your people. I could almost see the fire in your belly - almost being the key word. Even though i did not support you politically, there is something i always admired in you. That is, the fortitude to talk back at the blunt instruments of power and the bullies that weld them. In you i saw that undiluted, pristine almost-abrasively-arrogant Somaliness to confront tyranny with bare nothing and stand up when it mattered. And so, i want to believe you this time. But... When you bragged that you would skydive from a tower for William Ruto, i felt queasy and sick in the pit of my stomach. Everytime i am reminded of that knavish pledge of serfdom, a malignant column of sterile anger and helplessness rages in my belly. Something tells me the man who vowed to take that suicidal dive for Ruto will not stand up for me against the same man. I want to be fair to you. The day you tell Ruto you were mererly kidding, and that you will actually not take that leap of death for him - or for his immediate boss - that day i will trust you a little more. Until that day comes, no amount of sabre-rattling will appease me or restore whatever respect i had for you.
