Open the fridge door……and there is nothing good to eat We have plenty of food in my house. 95% of it is healthy, whole foods. But after a long day of work, and sitting in traffic and hungry, and have my small family of three to feed, sometimes I find myself saying, “there is nothing to eat”. At least nothing made already. No meal. This isn’t easy. Day in, day out. Figuring out what to eat all the time, with all these raw veggies, uncooked, wholegrain pasta, raw chicken or turkey. It’s hard at times. But I always maintain a healthy LIFE. My life is not measured by whatever meal I am eating at the moment. My healthy life is cumulative. On a regular basis, what do I eat, how do I move my body? Here are some habits that I maintain on a regular basis: I drink water, all day, every day. Plenty of water! I stopped chewing gum (was contributing to my addiction to sugar) I stopped drinking soda (every once in a while, yes, I will have a hankerin’ for one) I eat breakfast EVERY day. And it always includes a healthy protein. May throw in some old fashioned oatmeal (none of those instant packets filled with sugar), or whole wheat toast, fruits or veggies. But ALWAYS a protein (eggs usually) I stopped consuming Splenda. May be zero calories, but it is just a cocktail of chemicals that I don’t want in my body. I eat at least four servings of vegetables every day I go to Zumba class three days a week (it is a GIFT to myself to do this) I have developed habits. That is the goal. It may be hard to come up with something “good” to make for dinner sometimes, but that does not break my habits. Instead of saying things like “I want to lose XX lbs.”, “I want to get buff”, “I want to get tone”, “ I want to fit into a size X”. Say to yourself “I want to build healthy habits.” YOU decide what is healthy for YOU. Your health is a lifetime. So figure out the healthy habits that work best for you, that will LAST you, your lifetime.
