Opening Pandoras box complete with can of worms here, but... I do - TopicsExpress

Opening Pandoras box complete with can of worms here, but... I do not understand why criticism of Israeli foreign policy is the ultimate of eggshells for alleged super power America with regard to public speaking or personal opinion or political discourse (particularly with anyone in celebrity status or holding office). Americans have no problem talking openly about their own president (Republican or Democrat) and we collectively seem to have no problem calling other countries out in Western and Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, or the rest of the Middle East the same way we might gossip about former high school classmates when running into one another at a supermarket, but no matter what the Israeli government does, we (generally as a nation) seem to go to great and blatantly obvious lengths to avoid confrontation at all costs, even if it makes us look ridiculous in the eyes of the rest of the world who sees us as a nation that behaves like a battered spouse in an abusive co-dependent marriage. You dont know Israel like we do, honest. All those Palestinians just fell down the stairs and collectively hit their heads on the door knob. To clarify - this is not a blanket statement to criticize Israel or the Israeli people, NOR is it one to justify or validate any military or violent action taken by the Palestinians or any other nations against Israel, but rather, a conscious recognition that when Israeli foreign policy should be criticized, we as a nation seem to lose the whole Murrican Bravado and quietly wait in the billowy shadows sucking our thumbs and hoping that we dont get caught in the crossfire of someone elses religious junior high melodrama. Personally, I love every single Israeli Ive ever met in person (and Ive met quite a few) just like I love most of the Americans I know, but, right now, Im not a big fan of either of our governments. Personally, Id like to see Israeli and Palestinian youth rebel a la Romeo & Juliet and start intermixing with one another until no one knows which team they are supposed to play for and which side they are supposed to hate. (OMG - Israeli/Palestinian girls would be so hot. Lets give our grandchildren some beautiful people to hook up with in a peaceful Middle East!) OK - as usual, my serious conjecture has sprouted comic relief wings and has flown off course. But you know what Im saying here. We as a species should be ashamed of ourselves for letting such petty nonsense as religious-themed borders and fear-infused ideologies sway us from what we were born to do - which is love one another. If there is a God, Im fairly certain that God would agree with at least that last sentence. And if that God had a Facebook account, that God might like this status, but might also remind me I am a bit long-winded. But thats cool because Ill remind him that all of his pictures make him look like Grizzly Adams, Kenny Loggins, or Shipwreck and then he will have a chuckle and tell me to please stop wasting time on Facebook and get out there and enjoy my day off. Love one another and dont be afraid to do it OUT LOUD!
