Operation 021. A masterclass in political film-making. Jami - TopicsExpress

Operation 021. A masterclass in political film-making. Jami Mahmood you are a master craftsman. After taking over the film from Summer Nicks you have turned it into an interesting, well crafted, on message film. #Afghans have found a voice through this thriller. It moves slowly through the plot which has undergone three revisions in its history (if my information is correct). Comparing it to Waar, Chambeli, or Dukhtar all of which were agenda films: 021 and story behind the film shows that Pakistanis are finally taking the initiative to take the narrative away from the Americans and taking it in our own hands, even though this film is not about Pakistan, its about CIA and Afghanistan. For me Ayub khosa and Hameed Sheikh are the stars of this film, and their acting is absolutely brilliant. Shan Shahid is reduced to a side kick role, and rightly so, he plays an ex CIA agent in the film. His acting is good, but Ayub Khosa and Hameed Sheikh steal the show. Great work gentlemen, and ofcourse great direction. Sound and Editing get 5 stars each. After thee revisions the plot leaves a few unresolved holes, but all in all, this is the best Pakistani film of the year. So, dear Oscar Committee, why did you nominate Dukhtar and not Operation - 021? Ofcourse, because as we saw in the film, everyone has a price. Credit to the producers and to Jami for a classic thriller, in the mould of #Hitchcock. Must watch. This is not about supporting #Pakistani cinema. Its about watching good films.
