Operation Sunday Labs: Blincoln pictures: Available for Adoption Blincoln is from the Stop the Madness group - Operation Sunday Labs. 11/18/14 Little by little we are seeing Blincoln transition from utterly petrified to timid and skittish. We have a very mellow household, and he cowers at any loud or sudden noise, or when Kirby barks at mysterious sounds outside. Slowly we are noticing his tail is less frequently pinned down between his back legs. The day he wags it will be a spectacular day! Initially it took some practice and a few little bribes to encourage him to go out the back door and step down one step. With the bitter cold, we bundled him up in a little jacket, and hes totally happy wearing it outside as well as in the house. We are practicing potty routines because he shows no indications yet for when he needs to go. Other than a poopy mess in his crate the first night, he has had no accidents. We are treating him like a pup in training! Have not yet begun to push anything else because he is just so timid. Blincoln loves to be held and scratched under his chin. On his first afternoon when Craig got home from work and let the dogs out, Blincoln actually ran along with Kirby as the tennis ball was being thrown. This frigid morning he actually ran after the ball himself, picked it up and ran back towards Craig and then dropped it as if he had surprised himself! A little bit of that... a quick bathroom break and then straight back to the door and into the warmth of the house! He loves mealtimes, and his system seems to be handling the nourishment just fine. We are feeding him small portions 3x day. The first day, loose stools and a little diarrhea... this morning much better! Vet appointment will include a visit with a Vet Assistant who has a special interest in animal behavior. Hopefully she will have some input for us to help our little guy adjust. Its so heartwarming to see how this little guy is responding to his new life. Slow but sure.... hell come out of his shell. Its just going to take time.... and we will be here for him as long as it takes! 11/26/14 For just over a week now, Blincoln has been allowed to de-stress and soak up the love and attention he was deprived of prior to 16 November 2014. Weve made no demands on him. He has been coaxed and urged (hes loving the little tidbits and treats we use to reinforce behaviors!) to do certain things, but we have basically let him figure out how wonderful it is to feel warm, satiated, loved and safe. He is making wonderful progress and fills our hearts with hope and joy each day. Because Blincoln showed no urgent symptoms needing immediate attention we held off taking him to our Vet until he was feeling a bit more settled. We visited the Vet today and are happy to report his general health is pretty good! After 9 days of GOOD groceries, also wearing his collar, jacket and his new Allagash safety harness, he weighed in at 38.4 lbs! I will use a postal scale to see just how much those accessories weigh... but thats great news! He tested negative for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia and Anaplasmosis. He tested positive for Whipworms and begins treatment for that beginning with tonights supper. He has been microchipped. Blincoln has been introduced to many new things in our household including: toys, tennis balls, dishwasher, vacuum cleaner, brooms and grooming with a brush. He has mastered potty training... not a single accident since the first night! He happily wears his little insulated jacket in the house as well as outside. We have introduced him to walking on the leash... and hes been a real trooper, but mostly he has been cooperative because he wants to stay close to our legs when walking, and his foster brother Kirby likes to lead the way. With the new walking harness the real practice begins now! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you think you might be interested in meeting/adopting Blincoln please fill out an adoption application and have a home visit first. labadoption.org/info/adoption – If you have already done these things please email L.E.A.R.N. to be put on his potential family list.
