Opinion: Lungu’s Camp Is Getting Desperate By Mr. Facts - TopicsExpress

Opinion: Lungu’s Camp Is Getting Desperate By Mr. Facts It is not in dispute that Defense and Justice Minister Edgar Lungu who is also PF Secretary General has for the past three weeks or so been a darling to a number of PF members and sympathisers. Knowing Zambians, some have already started saying he is a Presidential material, but I doubt it. I think it is very naive to think presiding over Jubilee celebrations in the absence of the Republican President should be a basis to vote for someone. However, that is a topic for another day. Today I would like to talk about the levels of desperation being exhibited by Lungu and his supporters. There are several questions that have to be answered for me to be convinced that the people behind Lungu and Lungu himself are genuine. 1. When did MMD Members of Parliament and UPND Members of Parliament that are serving in the PF government become PF MP’s? Please peruse through the list of MP’s that signed the petition endorsing Edgar Lungu. On number 6 there is Richwell Siamunene. Siamunene is a UPND MP for Siavonga who is serving as Deputy Minister for Western Province. On number 8 it is Charles Zulu an Independent MP from Luangeni. He is serving as Deputy Minister of Energy. On number 10 it is Poniso Njeulu UPND MP for Sinjembela who is information deputy minister. On number 36 it is Greyford Monde UPND MP for Itezhi-Tezhi and Agriculture deputy Minister. On number 41 it is Nicholas Bnda MMD MP for Kapoche and serving as Local Government Deputy Minister. On number 54 it is Keith Mukata MMD Chilanga MP serving as Justice Deputy Minister. On number 55 it is Forie Tembo MMD MP for Nyimba serving as Local government Deputy Minister. On number 57 it is Danny Chingimbu MMD MP for Kapombo serving as a deputy minister though he does not even speak English and lastly on number 62 there is Josephine Limata MMD MP for Luampa serving as Gender Deputy Minister. The question is how can Lungu a lawyer and Justice Minister entertain such a stupid list? surely is it not desperation? Does this not vindicate Dr. Scot that the presidential candidate should be adopted by a general conference? I personally do not fancy Guy Scott but on the issue of adoption, he is hundred percent right. 2. Why doesn’t Lungu want the General Conference when the party constitution says so? I have perused through the PF constitution and it is very clear that Lungu can not call for a Central committee minus the permission of the President or Vice President. One must conclude that Lungu either lacks funds, lacks support from a PF heavyweight, or is legitimately worried that the cartel can bribe enough PF members to take over the party (which is clearly a reality). 3. Why isn’t Lungu denouncing the Violence that is being perpetuated by his supporters. It would not be wrong for the Police to arrest Lungu and the rest for treason. Storming Cabinet office with the view of beating up an Acting President is treasonable. Lungu may be popular but his supporters should not make the country ungovernable. Why should we all be inconvenienced because Willie Nsanda wants to continue getting contracts at Roads Development Agency (RDA)? Lungu has to bring this to a halt. After all it is only that Zambian voter do not value their votes otherwise Lungu is not even Presidential material. As for MMD and UPND, this is the time to expel those cadres called “Deputy Ministers” who signed the endorsement. What other evidence are you looking for? Just get that list and fire them. Expel them so that we can have a joint presidential and parliamentary by-elections. Yes, some people want Lungu. But he should not make the general populace suffer as a result of his ambition. zambiareports/2014/11/13/opinion-lungus-camp-getting-desperate/
