Opportunity of Internship at GIZ TERMS OF REFERENCE Project: INCLUDE Programme Position: Intern Working period: 01 July – 31 December 2013 Working location: Kathmandu, Nepal Reports to: Senior Programme Officer (SPO) Objective of the internship: 1. The intern will benefit from the experience of working for and learning from a bilateral technical cooperation agency and its collaboration with several state and non-state actors in the area of value chain development. 2. It is anticipated that the internship will develop the capacity and knowledge of a potential candidate in the area of cooperative development. Responsibilities: Under technical supervision of the Senior Programme Officer (SPO) and in close cooperation with the team members, the intern will Support in execution of tasks corresponding to activities related to selected value chain(s) including: Medicinal & Aromatic Plants, Honey, Ginger, Dairy, and Vegetable and Fruits (through riverbed farming). Coordinate closely with the SPO in developing and executing plans of operation related to the selected value chains. Coordinate with SPO in reference to documentation needs, field work and monitoring. Support SPO in developing publication on INCLUDE’s value chain development approach show-casing success stories. Support the SPO towards facilitating stakeholder discussions and promoting functional collaboration with private, public sectors, cooperatives, other projects and development organizations to strengthen the selected value chains. Support SPOs in file and contract management. Execute additional relevant tasks given by the SPO to enhance the work of the INCLUDE Programme. General Requirements: Professional background and knowledge – Basic knowledge in value chain and cooperative development Experience – Not mandatory Educational background – Bachelor’s degree preferably in rural development, social science and economics Language and skills – • Very good English and Nepali – both spoken and written (essential) • MS office package (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint), Internet and email use (essential) • Presentation skills will have an added advantage Others – • Aged between 20 to 30 years • Good interpersonal communication skills and team player ability • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines • Willingness to frequent travel to field (outside Kathmandu) as and when necessary Working Hours/ Days: As per GIZ Nepal rules and calendar APPLICATION PROCEDURE Application should be sent by email to [email protected] with a covering letter (explaining your interest to apply for the position) and your updated CV, no later than 26 June 2013.
