Opposition cry foul about being kept in the dark about Caribbean Parliamentary Association meeting _------------------------------------------------------------------------ Written by Ken Richards St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The Peoples Action Movement is alleging that it’s been deliberately kept away from a regional Commonwealth Parliamentary Meeting being held in Antigua and Barbuda. PAM leader Shawn Richards says that’s because the motion of no confidence matter in St Kitts and Nevis is on the agenda of that meeting. “This we know has been tabled (filed) by the opposition and so it would have been useful to have the opposition there to share their views as to what is happening in St Kitts and Nevis,” Richards told Winn FM Wednesday. He called it a “deliberate attempt by the government to ensure that the opposition as no voice at this particular meeting of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association”. According to the PAM leader, the information about the meeting was sent to the clerk of the national assembly in Basseterre in May. He said it was only on Friday of last week that the Kittitian authorities indicated that they would send two participants: Speaker of the National Assembly Curtis Martin and Minister of Foreign Affairs Patrice Nisbett. Speaker Martin is reported to have excused himself from the discussion on the motion at the Antigua meeting. That has been confirmed by the Chairperson of the Caribbean Parliamentary Association, D Giselle Isaac-Arindell, the current Speaker of the Antigua and Barbuda Parliament. - See more at: winnfm/news/local/5152-opposition-cry-foul-about-being-kept-in-the-dark-about-caribbean-parliamentary-association-meeting#sthash.3o6gUcV8.dpuf
