Ord. Wk 12th. Wednesday, 25 June 2014 Dear friend in the Lord, Fruits of our Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus explains that a “good tree will produce good fruits, but a rotten tree, bad fruits.” Ponder on your life and ask yourself, “Has your love for God borne fruits of greater compassion, care and love for others in your daily living?” What is the Lord saying to you? Msgr Philip Heng, S.J. Mt 7:15-20 Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Beware of false prophets who come to you disguised as sheep but underneath are ravenous wolves. You will be able to tell them by their fruits. Can people pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? ‘In the same way, a sound tree produces good fruit but a rotten tree bad fruit. A sound tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor a rotten tree bear good fruit. Any tree that does not produce good fruit is cut down and thrown on the fire. I repeat, you will be able to tell them by their fruits.’ Gospel pointers •Jesus warns us against “false prophets” who will be disguised as sheep, but actually are ravenous wolves. •“False prophets” can be identified by the contradiction between what they preach and how they live their lives. They often try to attract attention and glory to themselves instead of to God. •When we serve God, do we have the tendency to be self-righteous, judgmental and unkind towards others through our words and deeds? If so, pray for the grace to be humble so as to grow in truthfulness. (via DGems App - jesuit.org.sg)
