Hi everyone in the North East Division it that time again its time to vote for the President and the Executive Council. DELIVER A VOTE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE to a union we all want to belong to. For President please vote for Jeff Broome. For Executive Council Election please vote for Brian Loughhead: I am seeking your Branch’s support and nomination in the forthcoming Usdaw Executive Council Election. I have been an Usdaw Steward for 17 years and National Steward at Co-operative Logistics for the last 14 years. I have served as North East Divisional Councillor for 3 years. My record shows that I have represented the views and interests of Usdaw and Sata members. I am proud to have received pledges of support from members and activists across the UK who consider me to have the personal qualities, experience and leadership skills for the role of Executive Councillor. Usdaw is our Union and I will campaign hard for our members. If elected to the Executive Council I will fight hard to achieve the following objectives: All employers that have recognition agreements with Usdaw agree to pay a living wage To vigorously support the Union’s campaign to ensure that retail stores do not open on Christmas Day. Oppose any extension of Sunday trading hours / additional trading hours over festive periods. All our members to have access to a Pension that provides for a good standard of living in retirement. To continue and build upon the Union’s Freedom from Fear Campaigns for fair treatment and respect at work. Defend members against any form of discrimination. Use new legislation to ensure all members who want it have greater flexibility at work. Ensure that all members have access to Lifelong Learning. Vigorously oppose cuts to employment rights by the Tory Government. Oppose any use of zero-hour and short hour contracts. To support the Union’s recruitment strategy to grow our Union If elected to the Executive Council I will fight and campaign on the issues that really matter to you, the members. With attacks being made on working people by this Government we need a strong Union committed to the fight back and leading from the front. I will support our members with integrity and determination to achieve these objectives, which are absolutely central to everything we do as a trade union. I will strongly represent the views of our membership and ensure their interests are at the top of Usdaw’s agenda and reflected at every level of the union.
